BitBurners.com MediaBase is a recordable media and DVD recorder compatibility database. The objective is to provide non-biased quality and compatibility information for the consumers to support their DVD recordable media purchasing decisions. In time as more data is collected, the MediaBase will produce statistically valid comparisons of the quality differences among DVD-R media. As a source for the data MediaBase utilizes The Nero CD-DVD Speed quality scans. Users are encouraged to perform test recording, scan them for errors and submit to the database.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY:
- Update your DVD recorder's firmware to the most recent version
- Do not scan the very first disc you have recorded with your DVD recorder. Many drives have a learning ability and the quality may improve after a few discs have been burned.
- Use the Create data disc -test of Nero CD-DVD Speed to make the test recording. It will record the disc to the very maximum capacity, and the used recording speed will be visible in the Quality scan graph. Use maximum recording speed available.
- Perform quality scan at 4x speed CLV (Constant Linear Velocity), or the speed option closest to that speed. The used scanning speed will affect the results.
- Use Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.5 or newer
UPDATE 25-Nov-2007: Version Beta 2 released with plenty of updates on the backend and frontend. Known issues: Strange special characters on search views. Users are encouraged to submit their scans.
