The discs come with a matte gray top surface. The discs are speed certified up to 16x, but the Pioneer DVR-111 used for recording chooses a 12x speed Z-CLV write strategy. The results show a very low average error rates, with no spikes. This disc is a good example that CMC Magnetics can offer a decent performance at their best. However, for media picky devices I would still prefer Taiyo Yuden, Mitsubishi Chemicals, Ricoh or Ritek made discs. Pure data:
